Microsoft is revamping the Windows 11 Start menu

Published on May 8th, 2025 | #Microsoft #Windows

Microsoft is actively working on rolling out significant enhancements to the Windows 11 Start menu.

These new developments will initially be available to Windows Insiders operating on Snapdragon X Copilot Plus PCs, highlighting Microsoft's dedication to improving user experience with state-of-the-art technology.

The revamped Start menu, first seen in a preliminary build preview last month, offers more streamlined navigation through the all apps view, now categorized for easier access. This update is particularly advantageous for users with larger displays, where the improved layout greatly enhances usability.

The refreshed Start menu in Windows 11 will also feature a new phone panel, providing seamless integration and quick access to various functions such as recent contacts, messages, calls, and battery status.

This capability is activated when the system syncs with a smartphone, whether an iPhone or an Android device, thus narrowing the gap between mobile and desktop platforms.

Additionally, the update incorporates more AI tools within Windows 11, including AI-assisted writing in Notepad and AI-powered actions in File Explorer. Microsoft's detailed blog post explains how these AI features are crafted to make user interactions more intuitive and accessible.

The goal is to utilize AI to boost productivity by offering more intelligent and context-sensitive functionalities, ultimately enhancing the user experience.

These advancements mirror a broader trend in the tech sector of using AI to revolutionize software interfaces, making them smarter and more user-focused.
